Our Board

Wi, Hust S Hult – hello good day

I am your board president. I was incarcerated Dec 2016- June 2021. I have been a part of the board since July 2021 and became the board vice president July 2022.

I am Okanagan-Westbank first nation, British Columbia CANADA and Hispanic. I am a truck driver. I have lived in Washington my whole life. I was originally from the Okanogan County area, so a small town girl for sure. Now I live in the King county area. It was a substantial change for me. I had no one out here to help me. Then I got housing through the Journey Project. Their program is formidable, very flexible and understanding. Beyond these walls has helped me a great deal. Good people everyone, strives to keep this program going forward. Since all these organizations put all this assistance together. Has driven me to be involved in helping others in the community (LGBTQ+) with finding resources to help better themselves for them and the community.

Leem Leemt-thank you

Bailey

Treasurer (he/they)

Bailey started writing holiday cards with Beyond These Walls more than 10 years ago. They wanted to become more involved and joined the board in 2023. He is originally from the NW OH and has lived in many Midwest states. They currently live in Albany and work in higher education in student engagement and data analytics. In their spare time they enjoy being outside especially with a canine companion and/or friends. He also enjoys scuba diving and getting to view the underwater world.

Amanda

Secretary (she/her)

Amanda is a Hispanic woman in long term recovery from substance use disorder. Amanda has lived experience with addiction, incarceration, and houselessness. Her passion to support incarcerated folks comes from her lived experience and knowledge of barriers incarcerated folks face. She was born and raised in Southern Oregon and moved to Portland in January of 2020 to pursue a graphic design degree at Portland State University. While attending school full time she began working as a certified recovery mentor. She soon found a passion for providing recovery services to the LGBTQIA2s+ community and advocating for expansion of treatment and recovery services. She currently holds a CRMII, Bachelor of Fine Arts, runs a queer specific program focused on recovery, and teaches an LGBTQ+ cultural competency training focused on peer work. Amanda brings her lived experience, education within the substance use continuum of care, and desire to eliminate maltreatment of incarcerated folks to the board.
